Our solutions for your health are fully compliant with the new standard

Fine dust, pollen, spores or soot particles - thanks to our experience over many years, we have created a perfectly matched portfolio of ventilation unit, air filters and optimum air distribution that meets the highest requirements in every situation. This means that in some cases the indoor air is even cleaner than the outdoor air. Original air filters from Zehnder filter out the smallest particles from the air - which is measured by the ISO 16890 standard. This air filter standard addresses the increasing demand for a healthy indoor climate and ensures that when air filters are classified, their effectiveness with regard to particulate matter is measured.

With original filters from Zehnder you achieve the best result for your indoor climate.

The new air filter standard ISO 16890: Zehnder guarantees clean air down to the smallest dust particle

Since January 2017, the air filter standard ISO 16890 for the evaluation and classification of filters has supplemented the existing standard EN 779 and is fully since 1 July 2018. Under the old standard EN 779, filter properties were only measured for dust particle size 0.4 µm. The test standard od ISO16890 differentiates between four filter classes and ensures that different particle sizes are taken into account when measuring. Specifically, this means: From now on, the smallest dust particles in the air are also taken into account, allowing you to better decide which air filter is the right one for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ventilation for a comfortable indoor climate is beneficial to your health, because an optimal supply of oxygen and draft-free air stimulates sleep and concentration and performance. The increasing burden of particulate matter and the resulting allergies have led many people to think differently - a healthy indoor climate and clean air in your own living space are therefore becoming increasingly important.

At Zehnder we develop products that form a perfectly coordinated unit of ventilation unit, air filters and optimal air distribution and that meet the highest demands in terms of health, design and energy efficiency in every situation.

We recommend replacing your filters every 6 months.

Under the old standard EN 779, the filter properties were only measured for particle size 0.4 µm. The new test standard distinguishes between four filter classes and ensures that different particle sizes are taken into account during the measurement. In concrete terms, this means: From now on, even the smallest particles in the air are taken into account, so that you can better decide which air filter is right for you.

However, with the new standard, familiar names such as F7 or M5 will come to an end. A direct conversion from the old to the new system is not possible, because the new standard depends on the individual concept and design of a filter.

If you already have a ventilation unit and want to replace the filter, you will find help in the following overview of the new filter classes ePM10 , ePM2.5 and ePM1 .

  • M5: ISO ePM10 > 50 %
  • F7: ISO ePM1 > 50% or ISO ePM2.5 > 65%
  • F9: ISO ePM1 > 80%
  • G3: ISO Coarse 50 %
  • G4: ISO Coarse 65%

Before the new standard came into effect, our solutions already met all the conditions imposed by the new standard – but now it becomes measurable. We offer you tailor-made and sustainable solutions for an energy-efficient, comfortable and, above all, healthy indoor climate, which meet the highest health standards – so that you can always breathe with a clear conscience at home.
